The starboy who recently released a new single titled “Jah Bless Me’’, after his return to social media, is on 36NG discussions today after we came across a video of Hennessy Carolina, the sister to Star rapper, Cardi B, listening to the Starboy’s track while recording a video on Instagram.

The new song is now trending online, especially on YouTube.
The song was released few hours after he returned to social media with a message on his Instagram page, alerting his fans that he had new music on the way.

The afrobeat artist had officially released the song, which emerged on his Starboy Youtube page.
The song “Jah Bless Me’’ which was reportedly recorded during his recent vacation in Ghana is a mellow conscious song dedicated to people in the Ghetto.

A cure for HIV? Feasible but not yet realized

Across the world, people have woken up to reports of two persons being cured of HIV over the last week. But in reality, a remission as seen in these patients, does not equal a cure.

This week a team of scientists and physicians from the U.K. published news of a second HIV positive man, in London, who is in long-term (18-month) HIV remission after undergoing treatment for Hodgkins lymphoma. The unexpected success has launched a new round of discussion about a potential cure for HIV.

Since 2008, scientists have been trying to replicate the treatment that cured the “Berlin patient” of HIV. At the time, many in the field of HIV research were excited to learn that this man, who tested positive for the human immunodeficiency virus in Berlin and had recently undergone treatment for acute myeloid leukemia, appeared to have been cured of his HIV. Until now, success in replicating that cure has been limited.

What is HIV?
HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. Since the virus was first discovered in the 1980s, more than 75 million people worldwide have been infected with HIV. Today, almost 37 million people live with HIV. Of these, about 1.1 million live in the U.S.

Infection with HIV almost always led to AIDS, which in turn was almost always fatal. The field was revolutionized in 1996 with the introduction of HIV anti-retroviral therapy medications. These drugs halt HIV from replicating and allow an infected person to regain a functioning immune system. These medications are so effective that today a person living with HIV has almost the same life expectancy of someone without HIV infection. However, these medications must be taken every day, have multiple distressing side effects, and can cost thousands of dollars each month.
Yet even with this life-extending treatment, a functional HIV cure, defined as when someone with HIV no longer tests positive for the virus and does not need to take these medications, has remained elusive.

The ‘cure’ treatment
All of that seemed to change when in 2008 at the Conference on Retrovirus and Opportunistic Infections in Boston, Massachusetts, the news broke of the Berlin patient, named Timothy Ray Brown, who seemed to have been cured of his HIV. In order to achieve that serendipitous “cure,” Brown had to undergo aggressive treatment for his acute myeloid leukemia that involved two hematopoietic stem cell transplantations – in which a patient’s bone marrow is damaged – and full body irradiation.

This complex treatment involves destroying a person’s own immune system with high doses of chemotherapy or radiation. Then the patient receives a transplant of new stem cells from either themselves or a donor.
This is a difficult treatment that carries a high risk of infection and other complications, such as graft-versus-host disease, blood clots and liver disease.

Researchers learned that Brown and the “London patient” both shared a novel treatment course. In the case of both Brown and now the London patient, the new blood cells transplanted into them were from donors who had two copies of a gene mutation for the CCR5 receptor. This CCR5 receptor mutation – present in about 1 percent of people of European descent – prevents HIV viruses from entering immune cells. This renders them resistant to most HIV infection.

However, it’s not just surviving the transplant that confers the HIV “cure” or remission. After receiving treatment, both patients were eventually taken off their anti-retroviral medications and subsequent examination showed that that even with very sensitive blood tests, the team could not detect HIV in their blood. The inability to find HIV in their blood, coupled with the missing CCR5 receptor, constitutes the HIV viral remission of the London patient announced earlier this week.

What the new case shows
Given recent disappointments after hematopoietic stem cell transplantations in people living with HIV, the team reporting on remission of the London patient does not describe their patient as cured. Neither should anyone else.

While a second patient experiencing HIV viral remission with a slightly less toxic cancer treatment is certainly encouraging progress, an 18-month remission does not equal a cure.

Also, while the London patient’s cancer treatment was less intense, with just chemotherapy and the stem cell transplant, it was still toxic and is not a course of treatment that otherwise healthy people living with HIV infection should embark upon.

Most importantly, the HIV community learned that Brown’s case was not unique. This gives us another, and perhaps greater reason, to hope for future revolutions in the HIV cure scientific agenda.

Prince Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress appears to be heading to victory in the governorship election held in Ogun state on Saturday, just like his counterparts in Lagos, Kaduna, Kwara, Kebbi, Sokoto and Bauchi States.

Victory is being predicted as results began coming in from the various polling booths.
However, the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was ahead in Adamawa, Enugu, Delta, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom States.
In Ogun, Dapo Abiodun held steady in the nine local governments east of the state, crushing Abdulkabir Akinlade, the candidate of Governor Ibikunle Amosun, and the PDP candidate, Senator Buruji Kashamu.

From early results declared, Abiodun won handily in Ijebu-Ode and Ijebu North East. Other early results in the zone also favoured him. The APC has already won Ijebu-Ode, the first House of Assembly election result declared.
In the governorship result, Abiodun polled 13,234 votes to defeat Amosun’s candidate, Akinlade who got 4401 votes. Kashamu of PDP came second with 7289 votes.
Unlike in the presidential election, Abiodun won with 240 votes at his Ward 3 Unit 2, Ita Osanyin, Iperu, Ikenne Local Government Area to beat his closest rival, Adekunle Akinlade, of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), who polled 71 votes.

Abiodun also won the polling unit of Oladipo Adebutu, a factional governorship candidate of the PDP who went into an alliance with Akinlade against Abiodun. The APC candidate took the polling unit at Ward 5 Unit 4 Wesley Nursery and Primary School, Iperu, Ikenne, winning 197 votes, while the APM polled 75 votes.
The PDP polled six votes and ADC 2 votes.

Prince Dapo Abiodun also held firm in most parts of Remo , Egbaland and Ado Odo.
He also did well in Yewaland although Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) seemed to have an edge there, being an indigene.

In Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of the APC established a strong lead ahead of his closest rival, Jimi Agbaje of the PDP with the majority of the votes cast in such areas as Ikorodu, Alimoso, Badagry and Lagos Island.

According to The Nation, Sanwo-Olu was the preferred candidate at Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s polling unit in Victoria Garden City, Lekki.

He got 223 votes as against the 175 votes polled by Agbaje. The ruling party lost to the PDP by a wide margin during the presidential election two weeks ago.
At PU 007, Anglican Primary School, Iworo, Badagry LGA the APC candidate got 207 while the PDP received 74 votes.

In Kwara, Alhaji AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of the APC appeared to have confirmed the uprooting of the PDP in Kwara State with another emphatic win.
AbdulRazaq won his polling unit at Idigba, Adewole ward with 592 votes as against PDP’s 80.
He also got 201 votes at Ode Oba Onilu, Ilorin as against the 52 for PDP.
At press time, there was a wide gap between his votes and what the PDP candidate Razaq Atunwa had garnered.

It was also clear that Governor Atiku Bagudu of Kebbi State had won in most of the polling centres where INEC returning officers had announced results.
Bagudu got 572 votes against the 7 received by Sen. Isa Galaudu of PDP at Iyan Gwandu polling unit 012, Marafa ward.

In Nasarawa 2 polling units 002, Bagudu got 526 votes and Galaudi 98.
At polling unit 008 at GRA Kindi Zauro, Nasarawa ward in Birnin Kebbi, Bagudu scored 354 while Galaudi, scored 87.

In Garkar Mai-Alelu polling unit 006, where the governor cast his vote, the APC received 745 votes against 23 garnered by the PDP.

The trend was similar in Sokoto and Bauchi State.

Official results from polling stations in Adamawa, Enugu, Delta, Ebonyi and Akwa Ibom gave it to the PDP candidates.

The PDP won the governorship election in former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s polling Unit 012 of Ajiya Ward of Adamawa North Local Government Area.

Announcing the results at the unit, the presiding officer declared that the APC polled 99 votes while the PDP scored 161 votes. The ADC candidate scored 51 votes while the SDP candidate got only one vote.

Similarly, the PDP trounced the ruling APC with a 50 votes margin at the polling unit in front of Adamawa State deputy governor’s office
According to the announced results, APC scored 63 votes, while PDP got 113 votes. The ADC got 78 votes.

In the presidential elections of February 23, APC celebrated a victory over PDP at the same polling unit with 187 votes against 167 votes.

As it was during last month’s presidential and national assembly elections, many top politicians failed to deliver even their polling units.

President Muhammadu Buhari delivered his Unit 003 s in Sarkin Yara A Ward in Daura Local Government Area of the State for the APC governorship candidate Aminu Masari, with 370 votes.
Senator Yakubu Lado-Danmarke of the PPD polled 42 votes.

Governor Abiola Ajimobi of Oyo State lost his polling unit to the PDP in the gubernatorial election.
The All Progressives Congress candidate, Adebayo Adelabu, scored 112 votes while the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Seyi Makinde, scored 145 votes.

A former Oyo State governor, Rasheed Ladoja won the governorship election in Polling Unit 13, Ward 10, Ibadan North Local Government Area for the PDP with 180 votes while APC received 34 votes.

With 15 out of 16 local government results declared in Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazak, the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress is on course to post a crushing defeat of the candidate of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party.
Already Abdulrazak has polled a total of 304,681 votes, with the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Mr Abdulrazaq Atunwa, polling a distant 107, 664 votes.
Only the result of Baruten local council is being awaited at the INEC office in Ilorin, where the collation is being done.

Results of the ongoing governorship and House of Assembly elections in Nigeria have started coming in from different polling units in the country.
Naija News reports that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) commenced the governorship and House of Assembly elections at exactly 8 am on Saturday, March 9, amidst tight security.
The governorship election is taking place in 29 states while state assembly polls held in all the nation’s 36 states.
In the build-up to the elections, governorship candidates of All Progressives Congress (APC), Nigeria’s ruling party, and that of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s main opposition party, have clearly popped up as a top contender for the office of the governor.

The world's most powerful road-legal car has been unveiled at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show – and it's electric.

The Battista is the first vehicle produced by the Munich-based Automobili Pininfarina and has been described by its makers as "the hypercar of the future".

Only 150 Battistas will be built – half of which have already been sold – with delivery beginning in the second half of 2020.

Executives and engineers from Formula 1, Formula E, Lamborghini and Porsche came together to develop the electric car, which is expected to cost between $2m (£1.5m) and $2.5m.

“The world premiere of the Battista hypercar is a pivotal moment in the evolution of performance cars driven by EV technology," said Dilbagh Gill, CEO and team principal of the Mahindra Racing Formula E team.

The Automobili Pininfarina Battista features an innovative T-shaped battery (Automobili)

Its specs rival and occasionally surpass the most impressive supercars currently on the market, proving how far electric cars have come in recent years.

The Battista is capable of launching from 0-60mph in under two seconds and has a top speed of around 220mph.

An innovative 120KWh T-shaped li-ion battery pack that sits between and behind the driver and passenger seats allows the car to run for 280 miles between charges.

"This is the most authentic and exciting automotive story imaginable. The Battista is the hypercar of the future, inspired by a legendary past," said Michael Merschke, chief executive of Automobili Pininfarina.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he will continue to criticise President Muhammadu Buhari.

Obasanjo said this in Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State, on Tuesday spoke at a public lecture organised by the Centre for Human Security and Dialogue, an arm of the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library (OOPL), to mark his 82nd birthday.

The event featured a public lecture, titled ‘Colonialism, Apartheid, Freedom and South Africa Rising’, delivered by Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi (MP), President of the Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) in South Africa.

After Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland, appealed to Obasanjo to reduce his criticism
of Buhari, his boss, Obasanjo responded that we wouldn't stop as he was also Buhari's boss.
Oba Gbadebo had said: “You all know that I was an officer under General Buhari so each time Obasanjo criticises my boss, I always stand to say my senior, please leave the President alone! At 82, Baba is still fighting on, please fight less and be a consultant to everybody.”
However, in response, Obasanjo told the traditional ruler to advise Buhari to govern the country right.

“I believe that Africa has no alternative to democracy, good governance and development, growth and progress of our economy. We have none and if that is not happening in any country, those who keep quiet about it are accomplices to the crime," he said.

“You see, in a democracy, you criticise a policy of government because it is not a family affair. Even if it is my brother that is there and he is not doing what I think he should do, he must be criticised. That is what democracy is all about: criticisms; saying the other side.

“So, if I say anybody in government in Nigeria or any government for that matter is not doing well, let that government prove that he is doing well. So, Kabiyesi, your boss, Buhari; there is nothing personal between me and him. Just as he is your boss, I am also his boss with due respect.

“The point is that I have been in that position longer than any Nigerian could ever be there. That is the truth because if any Nigerian comes in now and have two terms, he will not have almost four (4) years of military rule.

“I have been there longer than any Nigerian will ever be there. So, when I say something, I know what I am talking about. So, Kabiyesi, anytime you say ‘leave my boss alone’, I agree, he is your boss, but I am also his boss. So, you might also ask your boss to leave his boss alone or do what is right that his boss wants him to do.”

Automobili Pininfarina’s ground-breaking Battista luxury electric hypercar revealed in three different beautiful specifications at the World Premiere of the all-electric hypercar in Geneva 4th March 2019

Automobili Pininfarina, the automaker brand infused with Pininfarina design house DNA and owned by India’s Mahindra Group, revealed its first production car this week at the Geneva International Motor Show. And it’s an audacious inaugural effort.

The Pininfarina Battista — a nod to design house founder Battista ‘Pinin’ Farina — is an all-electric beast of a hypercar that is faster than a current Formula 1 race car and can travel from 0 to 62 miles an hour in under two seconds. Automobili Pininfarina showcased three Battista design models at the show.

All of them have the same foundation: a carbon fiber monocoque chassis (meaning integrated into body) and carbon fiber body. The electric hypercar has four electric motors (one on each wheel) and a power output of 1,400 kW, or the equivalent of 1,900 horsepower and 2,300 Nm torque. The Battista will have a top speed of more than 223 miles per hour.

The 120 kilowatt-hour battery pack, which has a T-shape and is in the central tunnel and behind the seats, will give the vehicle an estimated range of nearly 280 miles. In the hands of its well-heeled owners, and considering the performance capabilities of this vehicle, the range will likely be much lower.

The interior has the kind of details expected in a multimillion-dollar vehicle. But vehicles like these are expected to be highly customizable, and the Battista is no different.

The vehicle will be available in 2020. But not just for anyone. Only 150 will be made at the Pininfarina SpA atelier in Turin, Italy. The vehicles will be spread out equally with 50 designed to each major region of North America, Europe and Asia.

The automaker showed off the Battista back in August during Monterey Car Week to select potential customers and some media, including TechCrunch. The Battista, which was codenamed PFO at the time, was displayed in a luxurious home, a setting that befit the vehicle.

As an Italian design house Pininfarina SpA has a long history of partnerships — its relationship with Ferrari perhaps the most famous of them. Automobili Pininfarina appears to be taking the same approach. The automaker has partnered with Pirelli on the tires and Rimac Automobili, the Croatian hypercar and electric vehicle components company that Porsche took a 10 percent stake in last year. Rimac is the battery and drivetrain supplier for Pininfarina.
Rimac should be familiar to hypercar and EV enthusiats. The company, which was founded by Mate Rimac in 2009, brought a two-seater electric hypercar with 1,914-horsepower engine to Geneva last year.
But it’s not just a small hypercar shop. Rimac also engineers and manufactures high-performance electric vehicle powertrain systems and battery systems. The company has already worked with Renault, Jaguar, and Aston Martin.

Mahindra bought Pininfarina in 2015 for about $28 million. Three years later, and after additional investment, Mahindra announced the launch of Automobili-Pininfarina as a “new sustainable luxury car brand based in Europe.”

According to Daily Post, Obasanjo said that the basis of his criticisms is to foster development and deepen democracy.
The former President said this at an event held at the Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun state to mark his 82nd birthday.

He said “Buhari; there is nothing personal between me and him. I am his boss, with all due respect

Young Babajide briefly attended the Government Demonstration School, Gbaja Surulere area of the state before moving to Ijebu-Ife Gramma School, Ogun State to complete his secondary education.
From there, he was admitted to the University of Lagos where he studied Surveying and Geo-information. He also has a Masters Degree in Business administration from same institution.

I Will Pay Above 30,000 Minimum Wage If Elected – Sanwo-Olu

Ahead of the gubernatorial election in Lagos, All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has assured the workers that if elected, his administration will pay above the 30,000 minimum wage benchmark and policies to improve their welfare would be introduced.

Sanwo-Olu added that the benefits that existed before but were denied during the present administration would be reinstated by his administration when elected on 9th of March, 2019.
The APC governorship candidate gave the assurance on Thursday while addressing civil servants with his deputy, Dr, Obafemi Hamzat, a meeting which was expected to be conveyed by the State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, but was absent, in Ikeja.

He noted that his administration would consider the civil servants welfare because they will drive his vision for the state which is targeted at building an enviable smart city.
While assuring the civil servants that his administration would operate an all inclusive government, he stated that workers would be engaged, trained and motivated to work effectively for Lagos development.

“As part of the motivation, we will take the minimum wage above the level presented at the National Assembly. And the payment will not exceed the 23rd of every month. This is part of the welfare package we have for civil servants in Lagos.

“We will also ensure a car package for senior staffs that have attained directors’ status in the public service. We cannot allow workers that are required to stay back and work to start looking for bus to convey them home at night.

“On the staff bus, I discovered that civil servants now pay to repair the vehicle. When elected, our administration will replace the rickety vehicles for the staff. All these, we believe would motivate the staff to deliver in every task they have been mandated to do,” he added.

While responding to complaint from workers, Sanwo-Olu assured that his administration, if elected, would restore local and international training benefit to the State public service.
He added: “We cannot give you a tool alone without training because they accompany each other. It is when we have done that the government can have an effective public service that drives the policies.

“This we believe will make the workers have the required skill to perform the task of taking Lagos to greater height. And it will be considered an important issue by our administration.”
Sanwo-Olu disclosed that his administration, when elected, would establish a platform for retired civil servants to act as volunteer workers, saying, we always have some civil servants that are still active but due to the public service barrier on age, they leave service.

“Some of these retired workers have acquired skills over the years. The retirement has barred them from further rendering their service to the state but they are active. So, we cannot allow them take that skill away. This is why we have concluded that when we are elected, such plan would be implemented in the state.”

Aside the welfare for workers, the APC candidate disclosed that his government would complete all existing projects especially the Lagos-Badagry Expressway which serve as a major entry route for foreigners from Western African countries visiting the country.

The National Chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomole has described the Presidential Candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar as a political rolling stone who cannot be the President despite his obvious desperation.

He stated this on Thursday in Abuja during a press conference to react to the issues raised by Atiku Abubakar on just concluded Presidential election and declaration of the winner.

He said that it is very wrong for Atiku to have the notion that election is free and fair only if he is returned as President. He said that election is not a war but a celebration of democracy.
He pointed out that Atiku’s desperation was obvious that it was on record when he challenged the former President Olusegun Obasanjo over his second term ambition.

“I think it also borders on arrogance for Atiku Abubakar to suggest that our future is tied to his presidency. Atiku is destined never to be the President of Nigeria and I ask you to review his character.

“Leadership is about character; Atiku’s desperation is so obvious that in 2003 it is on record he challenged his own boss President Olusegun Obasanjo not to do a second term and in the end, they fought naked at Wuse Market. Can you recount how many times he has decamped and recamped; decamped and recamped; decamped and recamped again? Now such a ridiculed rolling stone , does he think the Nigerians are so insane to think that a man who is not stable, who has no conviction and who has confessed that he is going to this race to enrich friends… would he be a possible candidate to elect in time like?”

He faulted the former Vice President on his claims that investors had started leaving the country because President Muhammadu Buhari won the election, saying Atiku was twisting the facts. He also said Atiku’s irrevocable commitment to sell the Nigerian National Petroleum corporation (NNPC) to his friends has brought suspicion that he already collected deposit on the corporation.

“When you say even if you will die, was he going to rule Nigeria against our wish? Because democracy does not end at voting and citizens must hold their leaders accountable for their policy choices. When you say even if you will die you will sell NNPC, many believed that he has already collected the money. So if those depositors now see that it cannot be business as usual and decide to take their flight, then we wish them well.”

He said that Nigeria does not need soft handed investors but genuine investors who have faith in the country and invest in production and labour intense industry.

“If we are these kind of business men Atiku is talking about the genuine Nigerians who are victims of financial manipulation and foreign exchange regime, we cannot but open the sky let them fly back ”

The woman, who now works for the state-owned national carrier of Qatar, had taken to her Facebook page to thank God for his mercy. She wrote: "It is the Lord's doing and it's marvelous in my sight."

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) says the re-election of President Muhammadu BuharI will help to facilitate the revamping of the nation’s refineries.

Mr Ndu Ughamadu, NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs division told the News Agency of Nigeria( NAN) in Abuja that the president had been supportive to the corporation.

“The re-election of President Buhari is a welcome development to the corporation. As the Minister of Petroleum he has been very supportive.

” His re-election means that more support will come for the work the corporation is doing.

“He has been very supportive with all the work going on in ensuring the revamping of the three refineries and has directed the corporation to ensure exploration of oil in the frontier inland basin,” he said.

Ughamadu noted that in product supply, the corporation had witnessed the president’s support in which the nation had continued to have adequate supply of products.

“In gas production, the president gave the corporation all the support it needed especially with the Ajeokuta Kaduna Kano(AKK) gas pipeline project.

“For us, his coming back is a welcome development and the industry at large is happy with it,” he said.

The NNPC General Manager, Security, Mr Sam Otobueze also said that the re-election of president Buhari was no doubt a happy survival to NNPC.

“It is a sigh of relief to the staff, burdened by uncertainties of the future,” he said.
Mr Sumaila Abdullahi, an oil marketers told NAN that the re-election of Buhari for a second term in office would go along way to consolidate some of the modest gains recorded in the Oil and Gas Industry.

“To start with, the stable supply of petroleum products have come to stay and fuel scarcity is now a thing of the past.

” The seven big wins of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources will definetely be taken to the next level and this stability in policy drive would boost investor confidence and attract more investors into the industry.

“The re-election of Mr. President will likely boost exploration of Oil and Gas in the frontier inland basins,” he said

Biafra: Nnamdi Kanu Fumes, Says Southeast Governors Are 'Fulani Slaves'

A faction of the Oodua People’s Congress, known as OPC New Era, has described the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Nnamdi Kanu, as a ‘loquacious coward’.
The group made this known while reacting to the threat by Nnamdi Kanu to attack Southwesterner if Igbos living in their region were killed in any post-election violence.

In a statement obtained by Naija News, the spokesperson of the group, Adesina Akinpelu stated that the IPOB leader wants to cause mayhem in the region.

“If not for the purpose of setting the record straight; OPC would not have descended so low to react to Kanu’s careless postulations,” he said.
“This is a guy who brainwashed many young Igbo youths into joining IPOB and left them to be killed by soldiers. This coward who fled the country like a thief in the night is now threatening to attack Yoruba land.

“We urge him to carry out the threat. What soldiers did to him and his brainwashed members will be a ‘child play’compared to what we would do to them.”
However, Akinpelu said his group noted the reported attacks on people of Igbo tribe living in Lagos State during the Presidential and National Assembly elections.

He called for the immediate arrest of those who perpetrated the attacks.

He said: “We members of Oodua People’s Congress, New Era, condemn in its totality the recent attack on Igbo people in Lagos State over their decision to cast their votes to those they want.

“How can any sensible person attack fellow human being just because he or she has a preferred candidate to vote for? Every Nigerian has the right to vote for any candidate he or she wants. Those miscreants who attacked and prevented law abiding Igbo people from voting in Lagos State and their sponsors must be fished out and made to pay for their crimes.”

Akinpelu added that the former OPC members who took part in the attack have deviated from what OPC stands for and so they must be made to pay for their crimes as they are bad eggs.

Saraki Has Been Buried Politically – APC National Leader Oshiomhole

National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adams Oshiomhole has said that the Senate President, Bukola Saraki has been buried politically.

Saraki who has been representing Kwara Central Senatorial District since 2011, was defeated last Saturday by Dr. Ibrahim Oloriegbe of the APC.

Speaking to State House Correspondents on Wednesday, he said while they were talking of impeachment, Saraki’s constituents buried him politically last Saturday.

In an apparent reference to Saraki, Oshiomhole, said: ” People who came to the senate with less than a 100,000 votes, and began to hold the country to ransom, their own people have recalled them home.
While we were saying that we will impeach them, their people said they would rather bury them. Politically, now, they are out. It shows the power of democracy, it’s a leveler, an equalizer, you cannot be bigger than the people.

Our people say that a politician is like an Okoro tree, he should never grow taller than the person who planted it. And those who plant the political okoro tree, are the Nigerian people.
Enumerating the lessons learnt from Saturday’s elections, Oshiomhole said: “I think, a couple of lessons have been learnt, this game is for those who are humble, those who believe in the people.

There are no dynasties, the people are the sovereign, when they borrow you the power, remember, it is only lend to you, and it will expire, and it will require renewal. If you don’t behave, they will remove you.

He expressed happiness that Nigerians have renewed overwhelmingly the mandate of president Buhari.

If you look at the numbers, you will see that the President has more votes. This time, the difference between the President and the runner up, is that he has more votes than before, he said.

The Nigerian government has reacted to report making the rounds on social media that Leah Sharibu, one of the abducted Dapchi school girls was dead.

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, at a press conference on Sunday in Ilorin, Kwara State, described the report as ‘absolute fake news’
He blamed the news as a ploy by the opposition party to dent the image of APC just few days to presidential election.

He said: “It’s absolutely fake news. There is nothing like that

“The rumour of Miss Sharibu’s death, which surfaced just a few days to the presidential election, is another ploy by the political opposition to tarnish the image of the administration and exploit primordial sentiments ahead of the polls.

“I think it’s part of the opposition’s strategies to throw everything at the administration and at the President. I think everyday they are realising the hopelessness of their position.

“Everyday, they are amazed by the support Mr. President is receiving from every part of the country and they have decided that they are going to spread falsehood, inflame passion and make this election a Muslim-Christian affair or North-South affair, but people are not listening to them.”

Buhari not responsible for worsening poverty, says Dalung

Minister of Sports and Youth Development, Mr. Solomon Dalung has faulted claims by Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) that poverty level among Nigerians has worsened under President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration.

Speaking during the Walk for Buhari organised by the women and youth campaign organisation of the All Progressives Congress (APC) campaign organisation in Abuja, yesterday, Dalung argued that Nigeria could not be exempted from the malaise, as poverty and insecurity remain a worldwide phenomenon.

To buttress his assertions, he cited oil-rich Venezuela and Sudan, which have been witnessing demonstrations and violent street protests triggered by high levels of crime, surging inflation and food shortages.

He said Buhari has put in place measures to address the problems associated with poverty in the country.

APC’s Chairman Central Working Committee Women and Youths team , Brig Gen Buba Muhammed Marwa, said President Buhari deserved a second term to move the country to the “next level” of growth in security and the socioeconomic development.

Meanwhile, the President’s wife, Aisha, has expressed gratitude for the show of support for her husband’s re-election.

Represented by wife of the Vice President, Dolapo Osinbajo, she said: “President Buhari has already shown he is a good man worthy of support by Nigerians. It means we are sure APC is going to the next level. You all have to vote peacefully. There should be no fighting on election day.”
